Why we made this one.
I bought my first "luxury" silk mask in 2021. £85, from a Goop guide. By month four it had thinned to gauze.
That mask is why Casa Hush exists. Three of us, all watching silk mask after silk mask wear through. Slip thinned. Lunya thinned. Drowsy fell apart in the wash. The money we spent on silk that didn't last was the brief.
So we tried duchess satin. Heavier than silk. Honest about what it is, a heavyweight polyester satin, woven dense. Our first 200 masks weighed an average of 47 grams. A Slip silk mask weighs 22. You notice the difference the first night.
Mei makes ours in Covent Garden. We met her at a textile fair in 2022, hand-stitching at her stand. We bought three. By the second night, we knew.
Our November 2023 batch was 47 units. By March 2026 we'd sold 4,800.
What you give up: silk breathes a hair better in summer. That's the trade. We picked the one we'd want, something that lasts a decade, machine washes, and doesn't claim to be silk when it isn't.
