Mei made the first one for herself.
Late 2022. She had voile left over from a curtain project. She cut a long rectangle, hemmed the edges, sewed a single inside button and a tie belt. Wore it around her flat for two weeks.
We saw it at her stand at the next fair. She'd worn it that morning. We asked if she could make us one in sage.
It isn't a bathrobe. The Robe is our other piece, heavier, terry, after-bath. This one is lighter, looser, longer. The hour before bed, not the minute after the shower.
145 cm length back. Drops past the knee on most. Dropped shoulder, sleeves that drape past the wrist. Single button inside to keep it closed without binding. Belt that ties at the waist.
Slip and Lunya both make versions. Slip's polyester satin runs $250. Lunya's washable cotton runs $198. Ours is GOTS-certified organic cotton voile, made by hand in Covent Garden, $138. We don't market it as silk. It isn't.
Five colors. Sage was Mei's first. Charcoal sells most.
